The focus of NCFMTC 2009 is on helping campus FM professionals meet additional challenges posed by financially difficult times. We are called upon to do everything we can to leverage the investments we've already made in implementing tools of technology on our campuses, and we need to make sure we do everything we can now to position ourselves for meeting needs in the future. Technicians, managers, and administrators at campus-based institutions are affected by tight budgetary limits this year, and CFTA is well aware of the challenges we all face. NCFMTC 2009's aim is to bring together campus employees from all levels and responsibilities to not only explore the challenges we face but also to set the course for finding solutions to them.
Participants in NCFMTC 2009 will see how peer institutions are successfully implementing tools of technology in planning, designing, and managing the infrastructure of campuses small to large and from single campus to multi-campus systems. CAD, CAFM, GIS, CMMS, EDMS, GPS, and BIM are among the tools of technology that will be highlighted at NCFMTC 2009. NCFMTC has a reputation for being one of the world's most valuable venues for focusing on the use of these technologies, for demonstrating their applications in campus settings, and for providing both users and developers of these technologies a place to share and build the strongest of professional networks. You will not want to miss this opportunity to learn with your peers.
It's a 3D World—How will Your GIS Catch Up? The Use of Technology in Planning, Designing, Building, and Managing the Vertical Campus; BIM Initiatives of the National Institute of Building Sciences; Competition for Funding in the Great Recession; Free Chocolate and Straight Talk on Facilities Data Integration; Managing Your Facilities With Revit—Leveraging Your Investment in Revit by Using Its Database Functionality to Catalog, Quantify, and Manage Your Buildings and Infrastructure; these are just a few of the presentations to expect at NCFMTC 2009.
Oklahoma City has quickly become a destination city for meetings of all sizes. Investments made by the citizens of Oklahoma City over the last several years to revitalize OKC's downtown area are paying big dividends. The downtown area that was once mainly known as a place to work now is becoming a place to live, work, and recreate; and it offers many options for those looking for excitement including the Bricktown entertainment district immediately adjacent to the NCFMTC 2009 conference hotel and convention center. In Bricktown are the Bricktown Water Canal, restaurants, theaters, and the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City Redhawks, Triple A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Also a very short walk away is the new Ford Center, home of OKC's new National Basketball Association team, the Thunder.
